Just My Luck

Is it just me or has lady luck been simply frowning down on me. For my first ever job interview, I travelled to the mrt station only to discover, to my utmost horror, that the train service has broken down from Pasir Ris to Tanah Merah. So I hopped onto the shuttle bus provided. But after rumbling along the road for 15 minutes, I hadn't even reached Tampines mrt station, when in that 15 minutes I could have reached Tanah Merah if I were on board the train. Finally the bus came to a standstill at Tampines. Frustrated and about to be late for the interview, I hopped off the bus and attempted to flag a cab down. BUT they were all occupied!! I finally dialed for a cab but still ended up late anyway. Stupid stupid stupid.

Then I fell horribly sick and came down with flu, sore throat and cough. But the worst part was that I started losing my voice a few days later. I went for my second interview with half a voice.

Come Saturday, after talking too much during alumni CO practice, I lost it completely. After waking up from a short afternoon nap at home, I was reduced to whispering to my family members. Then I went to the doctor (finally) and he said it was pretty serious. Gave me strong antibiotics and all the other necessary medicine.

I whispered through my third interview on Monday (yes I did explain that it was a sore throat and that I'm not really actually mute). But on my way to the interview, the ground was wet from a slight drizzle and I lost my footing on the bridge on my way out of my condo. The next moment I was kissing the ground. I landed, not on my butt, but on my left knee, which bore the full impact of the fall. Of all body parts to land on I had to land on my old accident injuries! Crap, the pain that shot through my leg. Ugh. But it was such an embarrassing scene that I immediately picked myself up from the ground and limped off as if nothing had happened.

I don't know how, but I managed to survive through the whole interview and get home before checking my injury. My knee hasn't looked this colourful since the accident nearly 2 years ago. It's now sporting this wonderful hue of purple, green and blue.

So there you have it. My very own, series of unfortunate events.
